Brother 4040CN Drum Life End Soon Message

Recently got an āDrum Life End Soonā message. The printer still worked, but the message keeps popping up.
This is tied to a counter The message can be cleared by:
Need to get to the Rest Parts Life menu. Ā This can be done by one of two ways depending on the drum status.
If you are getting the Drum Life End Soon Message
Press the + or ā button to choose āMachine Infoā.
Press OK to proceed to the next menu level, and then press the + or ā button to choose
āReset Parts Lifeā.
Press OK, and then press the + button to choose āDrum Unitā.
Press OK two times.

If you need to reset the counter without the message appearing.
With the front door open.
1. Ā Press the GO and + buttons at the SAME time. Ā The “Reset Parts Life” will appear on the LCD.Ā
2. Ā Select Drum Unit.
3. Ā Press OK

Unfortunately, this is not working for me. What am I doing wrong. I just replace the drum in the HL-4040CN and am trying to reset the counter all to no avail. The drum history is showing 25% life when it should now be 100% I have selected “machine info” however I have never even seen the “reset parts life” option to select. I have followed the diretions on your website as well as several others and have neved been given that option. What am I doing wrong? Please help!
